Memories from Doreen and Perry

So many happy times,so many wonderful memories-where do we begin? An early memory is from the late 1960s when Pat and I shared a flat. One day Jim appeared on the scene in his white Cortina, with that irrepressible grin and easy sense of humour which he never lost. We shared many family events over the years, including that never to be forgotten canoe trip down the Ardeche. I shared a canoe with Jim and was finding it hard going-I looked back to see Jim relaxing, hands behind his head, with that famous grin. He got his comeuppance when we capsized and he lost his glasses! More recent memories are of holidays in Spain and especially France. We will never forget how very welcome Jim always made us and his boundless generosity-barbecues, neverending wine boxes and lazy days! Our final memory of Jim is the last day we saw him, just a few days before he died.We sat in the garden, in the Spring sunshine, sharing news and trying hard to act normally.Jim was as he always was-cheerful,chatty and with that smile again........it was so very hard to say goodbye. We will love and miss you forever Jim.
